	Continental Championship Wrestling evolved from South Eastern Championship Wrestling.. Ron Fuller owned the promotion for much of its duration, into the Continental years.. Summer 1987: Ron Fuller sold it to David Woods, an Alabama TV mogul.. Early 1987: Continental quit its association with the NWA and actually courted the AWA for a while.. April 1988: CCW changed its name to the "Continental Wrestling Federation" when Eddie Gilbert took over as Booker.. ~~~They recognized AWA champ Curt Hennig (and later Jerry Lawler) as the World champion.. ~~~GM Jack Curtis vacated all titles (Alabama, South Eastern, and Continental) and crown ONE Heavyweight Champion..
