Penny Banner wrote: WRONG - Moolah was never recognized as the NWA Womans champion.. June Byers defeated Mildred Burke Aug 20th 1954..and retired UNdefeated with it in 1964. This is when Moolah's Baltimore title began being recognized by the promoters in the other territories around the USA, as there was no one to contest it..She was just known as the Women's champion..NOT the NWA champion. IT may have been confusing because it was only then that the NWA promoters began to use her and her girls from Columbia, SC...and let her call herself the Ladies Champion..not the NWA champion.
